Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes from time to time. The important thing is not that we get everything right but that we can accept who we are or what we have done and move forward to a better place. I think sunsets are a wonderful time to accept that the past has happend and we can not change it but instead we can alter our actions going forward. Remember that everyday we are blessed with the opportunity to start again.

Photographing animals is not particularly easy. When I set up for this shot I was wondering if I should bother, thinking he'll move before I get set up or the contrast will be too high or it will be blurry, the negative thought just raced through my mind making it seem impossible. However I continued on an I am really gald I did. This shot was not easy but it definitely was not impossible.

Everyday this little bee sets off from the hive to collect pollen. I don't think he thinks about it - he just does with the expectation that nature will provide. But can you imagine the fear and dread that might pass through his little mind if he did. "How on earth am I going to find flowers in the desert? What will the others think of me if i don't come back with anything? I am going to have to fly a long way and I'll be tired." It's enough to make any bee want to stay inside. The best gift that we can give to ourselves is the belief that we will succeed. It keeps out spirits high and allows us to seek out the pollen.

Pilbara Iron Ore Train

In todays resource boom it is hard to imagine a time with out iron ore mines in the Pilbara but it was only 30 years ago that these mines were created. Have you ever stopped to think what the world would be like if everyone took action to turn their dreams into reality? Next time you are told you are just day dreaming remember just about everything that surrounds us today "was once only imagined".

As much as I would like to pretend that every photogragh I take is perfect I would be arrogant to do so. This macro photograph is one of hundreds that I took in the hours that I spend sat in the middle of the bush (often on some very itchy spinifex). Some of the failures behind this one include blurred images when the wind blew, images focused on the wrong part of the flower and too much depth of field so the flower didn't stand out from the background. But each one of these failures taught me something new and next time I sit down to photograph flowers I will still have a succession of failures but I might just get an even better shot.

Marbled Jasper

Marble Bar is famous for its marbled Jasper. Although it is found in various places in the region it is most beautiful by the waters edge where the running water and abrasion of the sand particles polish the japser to make it's colours shine through. As with our own lives it is often the constructive criticism that we receive that polishes our abilities and make us shine through.

Building a house in an cyclone prone area may not be the smartest idea but 150 odd years ago the owners of this house probably didn't know that is what they were doing. They probably found this spot overlooking a pristine beach and thought this is a beautiful spot for the rest of our lives. Just think if they had not done that the world may not have the opportunity to enjoy the fantastic place we call Broome.

Road to Newman

"320 kilometers to Newman" if only all of our pathways were sign posted. When you are out in the middle of nowhere a sign like this is reassurance that you are on the right track to reach your destination. In our own lives we need to set our own plans with defined markers to celebrate the small wins on the way.

Gum Tree

All over the pilbara there are gum trees that have weathered through wild fires and survived to regrow back stronger and healthier. I am particularly amazed at the way these trees regrow around burnt areas, rather then just sprouting a new branch.
